A natural application domain for C
ERVVAL's simulation technologies is biology. C
ERVVAL builds ad hoc simulators that allow
in virtuo experimentation of phenomenon to study.
in virtuo experimentations have several advantages :
- Unlike in vivo experimentations, an in virtuo experimentation is riskless for the patient or the cobaye.
- in virtuo experimentations take into account the experiment context complexity in a more realistic way. Eg, some blood in a glass tube does not recreate the complex conditions of blood in a vessel.
- in virtuo makes it possible to interact at runtime with the simulation, for example by adding of removing a reactive, or by adding or removing a reaction. This differenciates in virtuo experimentations from in silico experimentations, which need all rules to be known at modelisation time.
In virtuo experimentations may be used to compute the evolution of a complex system (in which several phenomenon co-evolve) whose rules are known. In another way, in virtuo experimentations may also be used to test new hypothesis (ie to verify the accuracy of a rule, such as a chemical reaction), by comparing the in virtuo evolution to the in vitro one.
